The Christkill aka Cult of the Christkill was a band from the Tampa/Fort Myers, Florida DIY Hardcore scene circa 1997-8. Brutal, Intense, Noisy,
and Destructive. At the time in Florida, The Christkill had promise as an emerging supergroup of sorts.
The Christkill was the result of an evolutionary process starting in May 1996 with
a band called Bent River Dryad, a five-piece noiserock-screamo band in the vein of Don Martin 3 and Indian Summer. In September of 1996, the band began playing heavier music and scaled down to a 4 piece calling themselves Vertigo of Eros (VoE). After only 2 explosive shows, the band collapsed. Vincent DiAngelo and Todd Brooks decided to continue as Vertigo of Eros (VoE) and added newcomer Joel Calabrese to play drums. In April 1997, Vincent left the band to move to Ohio before anything was recorded. This left the band seeming on the verge of the end when members of Reversal of Man and Order of Importance anounced interest in starting a band with Todd and Joel.
The band became The Christkill with Jason Crittenden and Jeff Howe from Reversal of Man, Mike G from Order of Importance, and Todd and Joel from Vertigo of Eros (VoE).
The band lasted for 5 months (May - October, 1997). The band broke up one week before their scheduled first show on Halloween 1997 with Ink & Dagger. The 403 Chaos Compilation includes the flyer for that show in the gatefold. Three songs from the Christkill lineup ended up slightly altered on the Reversal of Man This is Medicine LP: "January 22", "These hills have eyes", and "Butterflies",
